This afternoon I had the opportunity to pull together a coffee cupping event for a few friends here in Calgary.
I want to first and foremost thank Mike Chapman over at 1914 Coffee Company (Squamish, BC) for sending over a number of ridiculous coffees that we had the privilege of cupping. The next time find yourself out in BC travelling between Vancouver and Whistler, MAKE SURE you visit his coffee shop (38123 2 Ave, Squamish, BC). You will be blown away at the caliber of the coffee’s that he brings in. And even some that he’s got in the freezer that are some seriously top-shelf coffees! Mike was so kind to send over these coffee’s and needless to say they were enjoyed by us all.
I also want to thank Caleb Leung from Sought x Found Coffee (916 Centre St N) here in Calgary for generously offering your gorgeous space for us to host this event. If you’ve never had the chance yet to visit this amazing coffee shop what are you waiting for? If you want to learn more about this amazing gem in the Calgary coffee scene visit my original post on them here.
We had such an incredible array of coffee to sample this afternoon.

If you have never had the pleasure of attending a coffee cupping event they are a great way of experiencing a number of coffees at one time. Caleb offered his own cupping event last week at Sought x Found and promises to offer more in the future, so make sure to follow their social media feed to not miss out on future events.
These types of events are a great way to gather fellow coffee lovers together to sample the amazing variety that exists in specialty coffee. All of us today agreed that the coffees we cupped were so complex, and diverse. Some of them pleasantly surprised us, some blew our minds, and others left us utterly speechless.
Thanks as well to Kat Behrend for bringing a couple of tasty coffees for us to add to our event. So great to have you here in Calgary, and to have you as a part of the coffee community. And thanks to every one who came out today for the event. Here’s hoping to be able to do more of these in the future.
