Commonly Coffee Turns 3

It’s been three years!

It’s crazy to think that this all began after I sat down for coffee here in Calgary at Sought x Found with Sarah & Keegan from RoofTop Coffee Roasters. That conversation sparked something in me. Sparked an idea I had for a while. An idea to share my love for coffee with others. Their encouragement and support was what tipped the scales and got me to begin what has now been three years of Commonly Coffee.

And what a journey it has been.

This past year as I reflect back upon it was unlike anything I ever anticipated. Well, I’m sure we’d all say that. While I would NEVER wish this experience of COVID-19 on anyone, I always believe in life that there is a silver-lining to every situation.

What has taken place this past year was the eventual influx of at-home coffee brewing. With so many of our beloved coffee shops closed, or at least only able to offer take-away, many people began to pursue brewing their coffee at home.

There is no question that 2020 brought with it a surge of Coffee Bloggers, Influences, YouTubbers etc that all sought to share their love of this wonderful drink. This community is one of the most incredible benefits of this past year. I am privileged to call many of these content creators good friends. They have encouraged me, challenged me, celebrated me and I hope that they would say the same of me for them. We truly are better together.

This past year I have had the opportunity to collaborate with some of the most incredible coffee companies and roasters. Never in my wildest dreams a year ago would I imagine that my brew bar would contain some of the items it does now. Getting to work with a number of these companies and roasters has only served to grow my love for specialty coffee. Getting the chance to use this gear each day, and to then be able to share about my experiences with you is what I love.

At the end of the day, I want to thank YOU.

None of this would be possible without an incredible group of people who choose to follow along on Instagram, read this blog, and connect with me through email, text or DM. I am so stoked to see what this next year will hold. I can only hope that one thing 2021 will bring is the opportunity to visit many of my favourite coffee shops again, to sit down with friends and drink coffee in a ceramic cup, and to help you brew great coffee at home.

I truly believe this coming year is going to be the best one yet for specialty coffee.

Thanks again for being a part of this past year!

Stay Caffeinated,

Tyler
