Hopwired Festival

Coffee & Beer. This isn’t my first post about the subject, and likely won’t be my last. I’m a huge fan of both. The team over at the Hopwired Festival reached out to me recently and I was more than happy to share some love on the blog. Hopwired

What is Hopwired? Well if you’re one of my readers in Vancouver then perhaps you’ve heard of it. You’re also lucky since this festival is happening again February 23, 2019. Hopwired is where the best minds in beer and coffee collaborate. Experience rare coffees and craft beers at one of the most unique and unpretentious specialty beverage tasting festivals in Canada.

I wish this kind of festival was around back when I lived in Vancouver, and I can only hope that one day this festival will make its way east over the Rocky Mountains to Calgary! Tickets are going fast, so don’t wait.

Wanna know more? Here’s the official press release they sent me…

VANCOUVER, B.C. – Very limited quantities of tickets remain. Hopwired Festival, presented by Espressotec and The World Famous CFOX, was so well received with the 2018 festival that it is returning February 23, 2019 to the Croatian Cultural Centre in Vancouver. “The festival blended people’s favourite past times into one experience and received a ton of attention through from Vancouver, to North Carolina, and Auckland.” says Mike Willis, of West Craft. “We were interested to move-on to another new and exciting [unannounced] collaboration concept festival but people kept asking for more Hopwired. We found inspiration from some of the collaboration partnerships that we helped set-up last year and people were moved to bring new beers and coffees from Across Canada and along Cascadia to make Hopwired Festival 2019 happen”. There is no other tasting experience like this in the Pacific North West and in Canada. Topics with the tasting panels include: Funk Yeah! Panel Chat on Cultured Beer with Coffee Additions, Foeder for Thought, Hoppy Together: Fruity Coffee in Beer, Citra Ass Down! and Crush this Coffee! and many more.

West Craft, the organizer behind Hopwired Festival, is expanding the festival with an all-inclusive drink commitment with tickets (no tokens!), increased seating, increased drink options and food options with a curated palate cleanser bar and double the amount of their popular on-stage tasting panels, hosted by Cascadian Beer Podcast and Vancouver Coffee Snob, which were very well received from guests at the 2018 event.

Festivities will kick off at 1:00PM with a welcome beer, which is a one-time-produced Prototype Coffee-infused-barleywine from Port Moody’s Twin Sails Brewing, which goes to support awareness of Good Night Out Vancouver, a non-profit organization that is dedicated to raising awareness about sexual harassment and assault on nights out.

After entry, you are invited to taste collaboration beers and coffees from over fifty-five craft breweries and coffee roasters, sip on delicious espresso poured from the amazing Espressotec team, and refresh your palate with the curated palate cleanser bar, which will feature a selection of rare and refreshing beers, and water served from Element H20. Expect to taste new and unique belgian-style beers, german-style beers, and american-style beers – alongside single origin coffees, blended coffees, barrel-aged coffees, coffee served with nitrogen, and decaf coffees – from the likes of 2 Crows Brewing, Backcountry Brewing, Fuggles & Warlock Brewing, Field House Brewing, Brasserie Dieu Du Ciel, Gigantic Brewing, Breakside Brewery, Sooke Oceanside Brewery, Firehall Brewery, Smoking Gun Coffee, Canoe Coffee, De Mello Palhetta Coffee, Chronicle Coffee, Caffe Monte, Explorers Coffee, Primer Coffee, Rithet Coffee, Roasti Coffee, Wolf Tree Coffee, The Stick In The Mud Coffee, Eleven Speed Coffee, Rooftop Coffee Roasters, Notch Coffee, Agro Coffee Roasters, and many, many more.

In addition to the abundance of new and tasty beverages, Hopwired will be offering snacks from Cartem’s Donuts and DownLow Chicken, as well as hosting on-stage tasting panels which feature the likes (and beverages) of Wild Ambition Brewing, Temporal Artisan Ales, Ile Sauvage Brewing Company, Monogram Coffee, Transcend Coffee, O.T. Brewing, Blind Enthusiasm Brewing, and many more breweries and coffee roasters.

Finally, the Vancouver Coffee Snob and Cascadian Beer Podcast grace the guests with their presence, again, at the end of the day to hand-out People’s Choice Awards for best beer, best espresso, best cold-brew, and best hot coffee.
